Graduation caps are thrown, snooze buttons are hit. As the semester draws to a close, students are making the transition from dorm rooms and Greek houses to a place all their own. Whether you attend OU, OCU, UCO or TU, we have an array of apartments to help you set the stage for a new chapter. If you’re living in Norman, we have a wonderful storage unit, the Village at Cambridge, that’s near one of our properties. It’s fantastic for stashing away items that don’t necessarily belong in the apartment on a regular basis. It also comes in handy when you have a slight gap between moving dates. After all, there’s no point in moving your things back to mom and pop’s when you’re only a week away from signing a new lease.
Whichever the case, college years are stressful enough. With the push, pulls and changes that take place, it’s nice to enjoy stability where you can find it. Our apartments are great for students, especially for their central location. And in combination with our storage units, the process is virtually painless (with the exception of packing, of course). If you’d like to learn a little more about our properties and Village at Cambridge, give us a call at (405) 310-6450 and we’d be happy to help you prepare for the big move.
Once you move in, it’ll be tempting to cram everything into a compact space. Don’t worry, though. Northstar Properties has you covered. We’ve gathered up five of our favorite tips to help you get the most out of your space and visually expand its appearance. Soon enough, you’ll be feeling right at home!
1. Now you see it, now you don’t.
From sneakers to cable cords, it’s easy to hide away clutter in hidden storage containers. Ottomans, woven baskets, and under bed tubs are our personal favorites.
2. The sky is the limit.
When you’re working with limited space, think vertical. Take advantage of wall space with floating shelves, hooks, and containers.
3. Be open to new things.
Ever hear of hiding in plain sight? Arrange your belongings in open shelving for a contemporary look. It’s the closest thing to organized chaos.
4. Slow down in work zones.
Before you move, draft your space into zones. Creating the framework ahead of time will not only save you time but soreness from moving the sofa eight times.
5. Time to stretch.
Did you know there are ways to add square footage without knocking down a wall? Curtains hung above windows elongate them while mirrors draw your eye upward, giving the illusion of a larger space.
